Volunteer

We are looking for individuals with coffee and/or general business skills, including expertise in any of the following:

  • Quality and inventory control
  • Management and marketing practices
  • Cupping training
  • Post-harvest processing, agronomics, and environmental issues
  • Engineering

Volunteer assignments depend on the types of assistance requests we receive. However, most volunteers travel to countries in the Americas, Africa or Asia, and stay for approximately two weeks.

To become a Coffee Corps volunteer, complete our online application and send a current resume or CV This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Your information will be placed into our volunteer database, so that we can contact you if we receive a request that matches your skill set. We do our best to contact a volunteer at least one month before the travel is necessary. In cases where there is a need for immediate assistance, the lead time may be shorter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to speak the local language?

Language skills are not required, but they are a definite plus. If you accept a volunteer assignment and do not speak the language, an interpreter will be provided by the host.

Am I responsible for costs incurred as part of the volunteer assignment?

No. We pay for all assignment-related expenses. These include round-trip coach airfare, passport, visas, lodging, country-specific per diems for meals and incidentals, project materials, required immunizations, and supplemental health insurance (including emergency medical evacuation coverage).

What kind of lodging is provided?

Accommodations vary from one region to another. In urban areas, you are typically housed in moderate quality hotels or guesthouses. In rural areas, you may be asked to stay with the host or in more rustic settings. Lodging information is provided as part of the pre-trip briefing.

May I take my spouse or other family members?

No. We do not have the resources to accommodate non-volunteers. However, if you would like to schedule a post-assignment vacation, family and friends are free to meet you after you have completed your Coffee Corps obligations.
