1. How long have you been in coffee? I started my coffee journey in 1996 as a barista. At that time, specialty coffee was not as popular as it is today. In 2001, I began exploring the field of espresso, including modifying some espresso machines. During this period, I also started roasting coffee at home and customized many small home coffee roasters for coffee enthusiasts in Taiwan.

2. Which countries have you taught in? I primarily teach in Taiwan, China, Malaysia, and Thailand.

3. What's your favorite coffee origin? My favorite coffee origin is Taiwan. In recent years, coffee produced in Taiwan has shown outstanding performance.

4. What do you think are the benefits of taking the Q? I believe obtaining Q certification allows me to approach coffee correctly and objectively. It moves beyond subjective preferences, enabling me to evaluate coffee objectively and use a shared coffee language to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds.

5. What languages do you speak?
I am fluent in Chinese and have basic English skills.

6. What other activities do you do in the coffee industry?
I am the founder of Da Vinci Coffee, a coffee brand in Taiwan. I am also the Chairman of the Taiwan Coffee Development Association. In addition, I educate university students in Taiwan about coffee, serve as an AST with SCA, and have organized numerous coffee events and competitions in Taiwan. I excel in coffee roasting, and while roasting is the core business of our company, I also conduct many coffee roasting-related training activities and act as a consultant for the coffee roasting industry. Moreover, I have served as the head roaster for Taiwan’s COE (Cup of Excellence) for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024.
