How long have you been in coffee?
I have been in the coffee industry for 13 years. However, I have been enjoying coffee for 20 years.
Which countries have you taught in?
I've been doing coffee Sensory, Roasting, Barista and Brewing education and seminars mainly in Korea for a long time. In the future, I plan to teach in various countries such as the United States, Mexico, and Asia.
What's your favorite coffee origin?
I like high quality coffee from all countries, but I especially like Ethiopian coffee.
What do you think are the benefits of taking the Q?
I believe that coffee farmers can be supported by eliminating preconceptions about coffee and objectifying good quality, and that also consuming countries can gain a broader understanding of roasting, blending, and even extraction through Q Course.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Korean and English, and I am also preparing for Spanish and Japanese.
What other activities do you do in the coffee industry?
I have been a barista, roasting, and brewing national judge for 10 years in Korea, and I am a Judge for World Brewers Cup Championship and World Roasting Championship (for WCE). I also have been teaching as a AST & Trainer for barista, sensory, brewing, roasting, and green coffee of SCA (Specialty Coffee Association). In addition, as a judge of COE, PCA, Sensible Coffee and various green bean auctions, I have judged coffee of Colombia, Uganda, Rwanda, Indonesia and Guatemala, etc.
Anything else you'd like to add?
I plan to move from Korea to Mexico this year to help farmers and continue coffee research by making a coffee research center and coffee farm. Also, I've won 25 roasting competitions in the last 10 years.
