How long have you been in coffee?
I started working in coffee in 2014 while living in Dubai, UAE. As many other coffee professionals, my first steps in the industry were as a barista.
Which countries have you taught in?
I've been lucky enough to teach in the UK, The Netherlands, Greece and Spain.
What's your favorite coffee origin?
Really enjoy Ethiopian coffees but Colombia, with its innovative processing methods, is not far behind.
What do you think are the benefits of taking the Q?
There are so many! A few that come to my mind are calibrating with other people, finding your sensory thresholds, learning a common language together with other coffee professionals, meeting amazing people along the way and accessing the deep knowledge the course offers.
What language/s do you speak?
I was born in Bolivia, so my mother language is Spanish. I speak English (not as good as my kids of course, who have very marked British accents), mostly because I live in the UK. I also speak German (with a clear foreign accent). Part of my family lives/lived in Germany and Austria.
What other activities do you do in the coffee industry?
At the moment I work for a roastery based in London, Drury Tea & Coffee. I take care of all the training, SCA certified or private ones for wholesale customers.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Becoming an CQI Q Arabica Instructor has been a dream come true. It took long and wasn't easy but it's an honor to be able to teach the course. I'm confident that the learning experience for students during a Q Combo is extremely valuable and it's just nice to be part of it.
