What year did you start in coffee?

Since 2003, I have been working as a trainer for a world-renowned coffee chain. I am passionate about coffee and committed to the development of coffee education. In 2007, I served as a coach for the WBC contestants of the World Barista Championship, and in 2012, I served as a judge for the World Latter Art Competition. In 2013, our training team completed the international certification of Jasblu Coffee Academy, and the Coffee Academy was officially established. In 2014, I became a Q grader and in 2015 I also became an AST instructor at SCA. In 2016, we formed the Master Jas team, including 3 national WBC Barista Competition champions. In the same year, our team went to Geisha Manor in Panama to hand-process 90+ series, and provided Master Jas courses for 4 consecutive years, accumulating rich teaching experience.

Which countries have you taught in?

China

What's your favorite coffee origin?

Yunnan, China, is located in the golden belt of global coffee cultivation, with excellent climatic conditions and ecological environment. Coffee cultivation has a history of more than 130 years. Almost every year during the coffee production season, I personally travel to Yunnan to visit coffee estates/planting bases in search of the plumpest, high-quality fresh coffee fruits.

I became interested in Yunnan coffee. During the visit to Yunnan production areas, we discovered some personal circumstances that were contrary to sustainable development, such as coffee farmers’ lack of knowledge about land and water use, and the lack of scientific production in the coffee agricultural system. System planning, insufficient processing technology & equipment on the planting side, and the consumer side taking the market as the ultimate orientation without paying attention to sustainable development... and other issues.

Therefore, we have established multiple local “specialty coffee industry-university-research integrated education experimental bases” to position the strategic goals of sustainable

development projects from the perspective of the industrial chain. Bringing coffee planting and processing technology to the production side, we will help farmers improve product quality, increase production and efficiency through measures such as coffee demonstration base construction, scientific production procedures, technical training, and learning and exchange.

If these issues affecting sustainable development continue to be improved, I believe that in the near future, the yield and quality of Yunnan coffee will undergo earth-shaking changes. Yunnan Coffee will also achieve a perfect ecological scene in which the environment, economy, and people are harmonious and sustainable in the process of "from a seed to a cup of coffee."

What do you think are the benefits of taking the Q?

As one of the most stringent coffee sensory testing systems in the world, the certified Q Grader will have the ability to evaluate the quality and flavor of coffee, which means that students can use scientific methods to accurately evaluate the quality and grade characteristics of coffee, and learn to and master a “common industry language” to discuss coffee.

Whether you are a coffee farmer, coffee trader, coffee roaster, or training teacher, Q's learning can give you full help in life and work, and will also become a boost for promotions in many positions in the coffee industry.

What languages do you speak?

English and Chinese

What other activities do you do in the coffee industry?

In addition to being a Q Grader mentor, I also serve as an entrepreneur (general manager of Jasblu Coffee, co-founder of Jasblu Academy Coffee School, internationally certified coffee Instructor, coach of world competition players, founder of TBC coffee competition...etc. Active in the coffee circle, I works hard to spread the specialty coffee culture and promote the development and prosperity of China's coffee industry.

In 2012, when China's specialty coffee market was in its infancy, I co-founded Jasblu Academy with the purpose of spreading China's specialty coffee culture and deeply exploring the specialty coffee education and training industry. I took the initiative to understand the market demand and the latest trends, participated in many industry training and further education courses, obtained multiple international specialty barista qualification certificates, opened global coffee courses, and successfully built Jasblu Academy into a "CQI and SCA international dual System Certification Academy”.

Since 2018, as the project leader of "Top Barista Camp ", I have led and planned the professional coffee beverage competition. TBC Barista Challenge has been successfully held for 6 times so far. It tours 20+ cities in China every year, has discovered and trained thousands of outstanding coffee talents, and continues to spread China’s specialty coffee culture.

In recent years, I have been contributing to China's Yunnan coffee development goal of "facing the whole country and going global", going deep into the origin of Yunnan coffee in the upper reaches of the industrial chain, innovatively building a "Chinese-style" coffee culture and ecological practice base, and cooperating with universities to build education The human mechanism promotes the in-depth integration of industry, academia and research, and builds a closed-loop model from "talent training to talent output"; at the same time, it links capital, market, and industrial chain resources, and through measures such as guaranteed production and sales, and targeted poverty alleviation, the project has achieved 23 years of Yunnan Coffee The good results of sales exceeding 30 million have promoted the development pattern of the high-quality coffee industry with "China's domestic circulation" as the main body and "China-international dual circulation".
