Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) Is pleased to announce that Director of Education Resources Emma Sage is assuming a new role within the organization.

“We created the Director of Science and Content role as part of our commitment to leadership in education for coffee professionals,” said CEO of CQI Michael Sheridan. “That requires investment to ensure our curriculum is based on the best available science and responsive to the needs of the people we serve. I can’t think of a better person in our organization to lead that work than Emma.”

Sage currently leads the Coffee Quality Institute education delivery team as Director of Education Resources and has been with the organization since 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Ecology from Hampshire College and a Master of Science in Botany from the University of Wyoming.

“It is impossible to overstate the amount of unverified data that is available around the coffee world, and finding up to date, reputable information can be a challenge,” offered Sage. “CQI education has always been firmly supported by science, and I am pleased to be able to focus on that rigor as it relates to professionals in the field.”

The Director of Science and Content is responsible for the development and deployment of a rigorous and efficient system for content development as well as the management of relationships with a broad range of external stakeholders in the academic, research, and scientific communities, including the research centers of national coffee institutes. Sage will evaluate research opportunities and serve as lead author on internal and collaborative research projects.
