How long have you been in coffee? I have been in coffee since I was born, I come from a 4th generation coffee farmer family, acquire my frist lot in 2016. Started my processing journey in 2021.

What do you think are the benefits of the CQI Processing Generalist Course? Understanding the base of post harvest and with that being able to mitigage risk, find opportunities depending on our environment and situations.

Anything else you'd like to add? I was born and raised in Montreal (Quebec, Canada), but I come from a family of coffee growers hailing from a small village called Lagunaseca (Quesada, Jutiapa, Guatemala). The entire village relies on coffee farming for its livelihood, and I am the first to venture into processing. My ultimate goal is to establish a small cooperative in the village so that every farmer can secure better margins and earn a fair return on their labor. I want to introduce the know-how of coffee processing and offer these farmers the chance to improve their quality of life. Living in Montreal allows me to connect directly with consumers by sharing my knowledge and lived experience; I want to give them a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges we face at origine, fostering greater empathy and understanding for the entire value chain.
