How long have you been in coffee? I have been in the coffee industry for 23 years.
Which countries have you taught in? Outside of CQI, I have taught in the United States, Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia. For CQI, only in the United States.
What's your favorite coffee origin? I have a difficult time deciding between Indonesia and Ethiopia!
What do you think are the benefits of taking the Q? Making connections with other committed coffee professionals, testing and honing your sensory acuity, and of course, coming into alignment with a global cohort so we can be united in our understanding of coffee quality.
What languages do you speak? I speak English and Bahasa Indonesia fluently, and just a little Spanish, Thai, Japanese, and Chinese.
What other activities do you do in the coffee industry? I consult and teach at The Crown in Oakland, purchase green coffee from Southeast Asia, and arrange some LTL freight for Royal Coffee. I also tend to drink a lot of the stuff!
