This week, CQI’s Post-Harvest Processing Program Manager, Yimara Agudelo Martinez, will be leading the CQI Post-Harvest Processing (PHP) Instructor camp. This “camp” is held virtually, and it offers PHP Instructors the opportunity to:
- Maintain their status as a CQI Educator for the Post-Harvest Processing Program.
- Learn of any new program or curriculum updates.
- Exchange ideas and feedback.
- Invest in their professional development as an instructor.
- Tune into presentations and discussions from guest speakers who specialize in topics pertaining to post-harvest processing.
The CQI PHP Instructor Camp has been a great success as it brings this group of educators together for check-in and exchange of knowledge. This year, the camp will feature presentations from the following guest speakers:
Professor Flávio Meira Borém, Ph.D., Professor at the Department of Agricultural Engineering at the Federal University of Lavras Brazil will be doing a lecture on “Science and Practices in Specialty Coffee.”
Professor Gilberto Vinícius de Melo Pereira, Ph.D., Professor at the Department of Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechnology of the Federal University of Paraná will be doing a lecture on “Unraveling the Metabolic Functions of Yeast and Lactic Acid Bacteria in Coffee Fermentation”.
James Cottrell, process expert in wine production – will be talking about some of his favorite innovations and experiments, how he has applied them to fermentation and how they could relate to coffee.
Ruben Dario Sorto Alvarado, CEO and Chief Operating Officer of Grupo BioFortune, leading operations in Guatemala and Honduras, will be doing a lecture on “Supracycled Foods and Controlled Fermentation Processes: By-products from coffee pulp & mucilage”.
PHP Instructors will walk away with more knowledge and new ideas which they will be able to pass on to learners in courses/classes such as: Q Processing Level 1 Generalist, Q Processing Level 2 Professional, Coffee Fermentation, and much more.
